ST. LOUIS, MO, JULY 21, 2016 – The Loop Trolley Company announced today that it is now taking applications for three key staff positions that need to be filled in the coming weeks as the organization prepares to begin testing the vehicles that ultimately will carry passengers on the much-anticipated trolley line.
The safety and training specialist will be responsible for the development, administration and enforcement of trolley safety programs and for developing and executing a comprehensive training program, while providing classroom and field instruction. The maintenance leader will be responsible for leading other workers in the inspection, testing and maintenance of trolleys and trolley operating systems in accordance with applicable standards and guidelines. The administration and development manager will provide assistance in managing the office, community outreach and development. Complete job descriptions and requirements are available at www.looptrolley.com. The Loop Trolley Company is proud to be an equal employment opportunity employer. Pre-employment drug screening and a background check is required.
The goal is to begin testing the trolley cars and system in mid-to-late September/early this fall, following a period of public outreach and education so that those traveling along the route are aware of the changes the Loop Trolley will be bringing to the area and understand how to interact in a safe manner around the track and trolleys. The actual vehicle testing will be ongoing for several months. All construction related to the project is expected to be completed by the end of year. It is currently anticipated that The Loop Trolley will officially begin revenue operations and welcome its first official passengers in the spring of 2017.
The Loop Trolley is a 2.2-mile, fixed-track, vintage, electric trolley system currently under construction, linking University City and Forest Park, with a turnaround at the Missouri History Museum. Owned by the Loop Trolley Transportation Development District and operated by The Loop Trolley Company, the Loop Trolley promotes connectivity, environmentally friendly transportation and pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods to enhance quality of life, increase tourism and spur economic development. The Loop Trolley will be an environmentally positive attraction, a prototype for connecting other areas of St. Louis through clean electric transit and a source of pride for the metropolitan area.
