ST. LOUIS – The Loop Trolley Transportation development District has been approved for a $25 million Urban Circular Grant by the Federal Transit Administration. The grant will go to build a fixed-route trolley system in The Loop area of St. Louis and University City.
The grant will fund more than half of the $43 million Loop Trolley project, and is one of five projects nationwide to receive money from the FTA’s Urban Circulator Grant.
“This really is an exciting honor for the entire St. Louis region, more than Forest Park and The Loop,” said Joe Edwards, owner of Blueberry Hill and the Moonrise Hotel.
The trolley route is planned to make a 2.2 mile journey along Delmar Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue. There will be 10 stops along the way to Forest Park.
