  • Metro completes Feasibility Study

2001

  • Loop Trolley Company established with support from Citizens for Modern Transit

2005

  • Loop Trolley Company acquires and restores two vintage trolleys

2008

  • St. Louis City redesigns Delmar Bridge
  • Loop Trolley Transportation Development District (TDD) established
  • TDD estimated to generate $300-$400K/year for trolley operations
  • Planning and Preliminary Engineering Study begins

2009

  • New “trolley ready” Delmar Bridge over MetroLink opens

2010

  • Preliminary Engineering completed
  • $24.9 million Federal Transit Authority Urban Circulator Grant awarded
  • Local matching funds identified

2011

  • FTA gives Loop Trolley project the “green light”

2012

  • Engineering underway

2014

  • Loop Trolley TDD meets with business owners and the public
  • Construction begins with utility upgrades

2015

  • Groundbreaking March 12
  • Construction complete on University City Roundabout and DeBaliviere Bridge

2016

  • Construction of roundabout, bridge, trolley tracks, station stops, lighting, greenway, OCS wires, etc.
